Growing up queer and black often put Naarm-based performer Ed Moon on the outside of social circles and made it imperative for them to have an escape; one of these was music and the other was dressing for the career they wanted. First finding their voice as a busker around the streets of Mornington, Ed’s uninhibited soul vocals and passionate guitar-based songwriting saw them chosen as a featured artist for the Victorian Government/Mushroom State of Music – Introducing series in 2020.
As a strong advocate for diversity, education, awareness and inclusion, one of Ed’s biggest goals is to facilitate recognition, visibility, and support for their communities. In doing so, Ed uses their voice not only to sing but to educate, share truth and spark inspiration. Ed has regularly talked and performed at schools to encourage creativity and acceptance and has loved performing at the NGV Teen Arts Party and the Minus18 Queer Formals.
Thrilling, electric, energetic, unstoppable and unpredictable, Ed Moon is a powerhouse performer, with a clear and unique aesthetic and style that permeates through their art and live performances. Ed Moon regularly performs around Naarm and beyond, sharing their sparkly, camp, androgynous and unapologetic plethora of original music with a pinch of cabaret and a twinkling of star dust for good measure.
